James Earl Jones - nascido em Arkabutla (Mississippi), a 17 de Janeiro de 1931 - é um actor e "dublador" norte-americano já nomeado ao Óscar. Desde a sua estreia na Broadway, em 1957, Jones passou mais de cinco décadas dendo considerado como "um dos actores mais ilustres e versáteis da América" e "um dos maiores actores da história americana". Recebeu um Óscar honorário em 2011 pelo conjunto da sua obra. É mais conhecido pela voz sinistra de Darth Vader na saga Star Wars e pela voz de Mufasa, pai de Simba em Rei Leão.
James Earl Jones nasceu em Arkabutla (Mississippi), filho do também actor Robert Earl Jones, e da sua esposa Ruth Connolly Jones, uma professora e empregada doméstica.
Jones foi casado duas vezes: a primeira com Julienne Marie, de quem se divorciou mais tarde, sem nunca terem tido filhos; a segunda, em 1982, com Cecilia Hart de quem tem um filho, Flynn Earl Jones.
