Celeste Holm - nascida em Brooklyn (Nova Iorque), a 29 de Abril de 1917, e falecida em Manathan (Nova Iorque), a 15 de Julho de 2012 - foi uma actriz norte-americana de cinema, teatro e televisão.
Vida e carreira
Celeste estudou arte dramática na Universidade de Chicago e estreou-se na Broadway em 1936. Assinou com a 20th Century Fox em 1946 e, nesse mesmo ano, actuou no seu primeiro filme, "Três Raparigas Endiabradas" ("Three Little Girls in Blue"). No terceiro filme em que participou, "A luz é para todos" ("Gentleman's Agreement"), em 1947, ganhou o Óscar de melhor actriz secundária e o Globo de Ouro de melhor actriz secundária em cinema. Em 1948, actuou no clássico "O Fosso das Víboras" ("The Snake Pit"), com Olivia de Havilland, que foi um dos primeiros a mostrar o drama daqueles que sofrem de doença mental. Posteriormente, foi mais duas vezes nomeada ao prêmio da Academia de Artes e Ciências Cinematográficas, como melhor actriz secundária, novamente, por "Os sinos falam" ("Come to the Stable"), em 1949, e Eva" ("All about Eve"), em 1950.
Dando preferência ao teatro, Celeste participou de poucos filmes nos anos 50, entre eles os musicais "Armadilha Amorosa" ("Tender Trap"), em 1955, e "ALta Sociedade" ("High Society"), em 1956. Em 1954, conduziu um programa próprio na televisão, chamado "Honestly Celeste". Nas últimas duas décadas, Celeste apareceu regularmente na televisão, em mini-séries, filmes e seriados, como "Falcon Crest" em 1985. No cinema, durante esses períodos são notáveis também os seus desempenhos em "As Aventuras de Tom Sawyer" ("Tom Sawyer2), em 1973 e "Três solteirões e um bebê" ("Three Men and a Baby").
Foi atribuída a Celeste Holm uma estrela no Passeio da Fama, localizada no número 41 da Hollywood Boulevard.
Morreu a 15 de Julho de 2012, aos 95 anos, não tendo sido divulgada a causa da sua morte.
